Maintain--It Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Maintain--It ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Maintain--It mobile application (the "App").

Our core principle is simple: Your maintenance data belongs to you and is not sold, shared, or used for advertising.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do NOT collect or use the following for advertising, profiling, or resale:

• Personal identifying information for marketing purposes.
• User behavior across other apps or websites.
• Location history beyond optional in-app functionality.
• Maintenance data for analytics or advertising.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, your personal iCloud account:

• Vehicle & Property Information
• Maintenance Tasks, Warranties & History
• Notes, Photos, and Documents
• App Preferences & Notifications

4. Cloud Services & Gift Code Redemption

Maintain--It uses secure cloud services (Firebase) for limited, user-initiated features:

• Gift Codes: When you redeem a gift code, the app retrieves a predefined task template from our servers.
• Task Templates: These templates are copied into your account and become fully owned and editable by you.
• Not Linked After Redemption: After redemption, tasks are no longer linked to the original gift code or creator.

We do not access or modify your personal task data without your action.

5. Optional Accounts & Sharing

You can use Maintain--It without ever creating an account. If you want to share a property or vehicle with family or others, you can create an optional account. Only then do we collect the information below.

What we collect

• Email address and password: Used to create and verify your account. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store it in readable form. We send you a verification email.
• Shared item data: When you share a home, property, or vehicle, we store a copy of that item's name and address or vehicle details (year, make, model, mileage), its tasks, due dates, notes, and recent service history in our cloud database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) so the people you invite can view and update it. Only the item you choose to share is copied; the rest of your data stays on your device.
• Invitations: The email address of each person you invite, your email address, and the name of the shared item, kept until the invitation is accepted, declined, or cancelled, and for as long as the share exists.
• Changes made by people you share with: If someone you invited completes or adds a task, their email address is recorded on that entry and is visible to you and the other people with access to that item.

How it is used

This information is used only to provide account and sharing features. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used for tracking. Anyone you invite can see and update the item you share with them, so only invite people you trust. You can remove a person or stop sharing at any time.

Control and deletion

• Stop sharing: Stopping a share permanently deletes the shared copy and any pending requests from our servers. Your own data on your device is not affected.
• Leave a share: If someone shared an item with you, you can leave it at any time.
• Delete your account: In the App, go to Settings → Account & Sharing → Delete account. This removes your account, deletes any shares you own, and removes you from shares others made with you. Invitations other people sent to your email address may remain until the sender cancels them; contact us if you would like them removed.

6. Analytics & Diagnostics

We may use Firebase Analytics and Crash Reporting to improve app stability and performance. This data is:

• Aggregated and anonymized
• Used solely for diagnostics and improvement
• Not linked to your personal identity
• Not used for advertising or tracking

7. Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google)

Firebase is used for secure cloud storage of gift codes and task templates, anonymous diagnostics, and, if you create an optional account, sign-in (Firebase Authentication) and storage of the items you choose to share (Cloud Firestore).

RevenueCat

RevenueCat manages in-app subscriptions and may process anonymous identifiers required for subscription validation.

Apple App Store

Purchases and downloads are governed by Apple's privacy policies. We do not have access to your payment details.

8. Permissions

• Camera: Used for scanning VINs and documents.
• Notifications: Used for maintenance reminders.
• Location (Optional): Used for region detection or mileage tracking if enabled.

All permissions are optional and controlled by you in iOS Settings.

9. Data Retention & Security

You control your data. Deleting the App removes local data. Cloud-based template data is retained only as needed to support redemption and diagnostics. If you create an account, your account information is kept until you delete your account, and shared item data is kept only while the share exists. Note that deleting the App does not delete an account or its shares; use Delete account in the App first.

10. Your Rights

You may access, modify, export, or delete your data at any time within the App, including deleting your account if you created one (Settings → Account & Sharing). To ask about or request deletion of any data we hold, contact us below. We comply with GDPR and CCPA requirements by design.
